This Privacy Policy explains how Duck Memo for iOS handles information when you use the app.
Duck Memo does not operate its own account system and does not require you to provide your name, email address, or password in order to use the app.
Memo Data and App Settings
Duck Memo stores the memos and settings you create so that the app can provide its core functionality. Some data is also stored locally on your device for fast display, offline use, widget display, and safe synchronization.
The developer does not use the contents of your memos for advertising or analytics and does not sell the contents of your memos.
iCloud and CloudKit
Starting with Duck Memo version 4.0.0 for iOS, Duck Memo supports synchronization through Apple iCloud using CloudKit. When iCloud is available, memo data and related app data may be stored in the application's private CloudKit database so that they can be synchronized across devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
CloudKit is an Apple service. Data stored in iCloud is processed and protected by Apple in accordance with Apple's privacy policies. If iCloud is temporarily unavailable, Duck Memo may keep local cached data and pending changes on your device and synchronize them when iCloud becomes available again.
Existing local data from earlier versions may remain on the device as part of the migration and recovery process. Duck Memo does not intentionally delete that local data merely because iCloud synchronization has been enabled.
Advertising
The free version of Duck Memo uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may process information such as device identifiers, IP address, advertising interactions, and related diagnostic or usage information in accordance with their own policies.
On iOS, Duck Memo uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework where required. If tracking permission is requested, you can allow or deny it using the system prompt. Advertising may still be shown when tracking permission is denied.
In-App Purchases
Duck Memo offers a one-time Pro purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Duck Memo receives purchase status and transaction information necessary to provide purchased features, but the developer does not receive your payment card details.
Photo Library
Duck Memo may request permission to save images, such as gift backgrounds, to your photo library when you choose to do so. Duck Memo does not upload the contents of your photo library to the developer.
Third-Party Services
The iOS app uses or may interact with the following services:
Data Sharing
Duck Memo does not sell your personal information. Information may be processed by Apple, Google, or other service providers only to provide features such as iCloud synchronization, App Store purchases, advertising, consent management, and related platform services.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete individual memos from within Duck Memo. Local cache and synchronization metadata may remain temporarily as needed to keep devices in sync and to protect against data loss.
Removing Duck Memo from a device does not necessarily remove data that is stored in iCloud. iCloud-stored data is subject to Apple's iCloud storage and data-management controls.
Security
Reasonable measures are used to protect data handled by Duck Memo. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children's Privacy
Duck Memo is not specifically directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through an account-registration process.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when Duck Memo's features or data practices change. The latest version will be posted on this page.
This policy is effective as of 2026-09-26.
